PLANTATION DEVELOPMENT
The Agro-Business Division of PELITA carries the following activities, namely the development of:

Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land
State Land
Sago Plantation and Research & Development
Food Production Activities

INVOLVEMENT OF PELITA IN PLANTATION DEVELOPMENT
PELITA
first got involved in plantation development in 1986 with the development of state land. Since then the total gross area of state land under development to date is 211,759 hectares.

Subsequently, in 1996 PELITA was instructed by the State Government to develop NCR land with its first project in Kanowit. Today, the total gross area of NCR land to date has increased to 216,434 hectares.

Out of the total of 428,193 hectares NCR and state lands, PELITA together with its JV Partners have planted 157,372 hectares of land with oil palm. Complementing the plantations, PELITA and its JV Partners have 10 palm oil mills with the total capacity of processing over 2 million tones of FFB per year.

Besides of this oil palm project, another gross area of 1,416 hectares land has been implemented for food production projects. Also, 13,946 hectares peat land in Mukah is progressively being developed for commercial sago plantation.
