LCDA Blood donation drive attracts 23 donors

KUCHING: Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) in cooperation with Normah Specialist Medical Centre organised a Blood Donation Programme at LCDA Auditorium in LCDA Tower, Isthmus here, yesterday.

The blood donation programme attracted 23 blood donors while 95 staff members from various government departments and companies in the surrounding area took part in a health screening programme.

The inaugural programme was part of LCDA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign as a way to give back to the community and assist in saving lives. It will continue to be a regular programme to encourage the local community to help those in need through blood donation.

“We need to create more awareness to people out there on the benefits of blood donation. Not only is it beneficial for personal health but it also saves lives. Today we hear a lot about people going through all kind of sickness or accidents that require blood transfusion, but the blood bank could only cater so much. Therefore, it is important to help those in need,” said LCDA Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs Division, Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly.

Among the guests and participants of the programme were personnel from the Ministry of Utility Sarawak, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research, RECODA, PETROS, Sarawak Energy Berhad and LCDA.
